Since its establishment in 1948, the Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD, Inc. has been instrumental in raising funds for various hospital projects and services at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. Auxiliary funds are primarily raised through sales at The Bazaar at 121 Federal Street and Maggie’s Gift Shop, located at the hospital. Annually, the Auxiliary’s volunteers give nearly 50,000 hours of time and talent to the hospital for the benefit of the patients in the community.

Cancer Center – UM Shore Regional Cancer Center, located at 509 Idlewild Ave., in Easton offers radiation and chemotherapy treatment.  Volunteers primarily help in radiation by providing patients help in preparing for their daily treatment and being a friendly presence as patients navigate their course.   They also serve as a liaison to staff during the daily patient schedule.  Two volunteer shifts are scheduled each weekday: a.m. – 7:30-11:30 and p.m. 12:30 – 4 p.m

Escort – Volunteers are stationed in the Hospital Lobby in the morning and afternoon to provide, at staff request, wheelchair assistance or personal guidance with both arrivals and departures of patients.  Escort volunteers also offer an additional presence in the Lobby to support Hospital security.

Birthing Center
Cuddlers
Volunteers offer cuddling to newborns who are withdrawing from maternal opioid addiction. Scheduling is by specific need and training is available.

Pandora’s Box
Knitters provide caps for newborns when they depart the hospital

Chapel
The Hospital chapel is maintained by volunteers who refresh floral arrangements and
keep the room tidy

Vendor Sales
Auxiliary volunteers manage several sales during the year, i.e. uniform sale, In the Bag,
etc. and the sales raise funds for the hospital to use for special requests.
